Lute Olson appears to be the No. 1 candidate for Kentucky’s vacant basketball coaching job, but the Arizona coach is expected to weigh Kentucky’s salary and possible National Collegiate Athletic Assn. sanctions before deciding.
The NCAA investigation of Kentucky has uncovered 18 possible rules violations. University officials are scheduled to meet with the NCAA Committee on Infractions on April 22.
The Arizona Republic reported that Olson, who was offered the Kentucky job in 1985, earns between $400,000 and $500,000 at Arizona, but could earn more than $600,000 at Kentucky.
