McEnroe Outclasses Borg 6-3, 6-3 in Singapore Match
John McEnroe outclassed a rusty Bjorn Borg of Sweden 6-3, 6-3 in an exhibition tennis match today.
A genial McEnroe totally dominated the indoor contest played at the air-conditioned World Trade Center. The 30-year-old American currently is ranked sixth in world standings.
Singapore was the first stop this week for Borg and McEnroe on what is touted as their “reunion tour” that includes the Philippines, Taiwan and Japan.
Borg, 32, told reporters that the Asian tour was his farewell. “There will be no more tennis for me,” he said.
