A20-year-old Simi Valley resident was stabbed early Sunday by men he had earlier tangled with in a poolroom fistfight, police said.

One of the three suspects was arrested Sunday afternoon, but the others remained at large, Simi Valley Police Sgt. Ken Tacke said. Police arrested Jorge Hernandez, a Simi Valley resident in his mid-twenties, on suspicion of attempted murder, Tacke said.

Police did not provide further details of the arrest.

Simi Valley Police Sgt. Arch Morgan said the victim, Juan Martinez, was sitting with a friend in his car in the driveway of his home in the 1800 block of Royal Avenue at about 4:30 a.m. when another vehicle pulled up behind them.

Morgan said the three assailants got out of the second vehicle and broke out the windows in the passenger and driver sides of Martinez’s car. One of the three assailants stabbed Martinez twice in the chest before the three fled. The friend was not injured.

Martinez and the three men had fought at a pool hall earlier, police said. Morgan said the assailants had apparently followed Martinez home.

Martinez was in satisfactory condition at Simi Valley Adventist Hospital, he said.
