PREP TRACK AND FIELD : Roundup : Graton Breaks Her Own Record in Hurdles to Lead Loara

Kelly Graton broke her school record in the 110-yard low hurdles in leading Loara High School to a 90-31 Empire League victory over El Dorado Thursday at El Dorado.

Graton won the event in 15.1 seconds, breaking her record time of 15.23 set last year.

Graton also won the 330 low hurdles in 46.8.

In Empire League boys’ track and field:

Loara 102, El Dorado 33--Miguel Galindo won the mile (4:42) and the two mile (10:33), and Kurt Hughett won the 100 yards (10.3) and anchored the Saxons’ winning 440 relay.

In Garden Grove League boys’ track and field:

Kennedy 88, Pacifica 39--Ravish Patwardhen won the mile (4:54) and two mile (11:03), and Charlie Cummings won the triple jump (45-6 3/4) and the long jump (19-11) to lead Kennedy at Pacifica.

In Angelus League boys’ track and field:

Mater Dei 83, Servite 44--Jason Uhl won the shotput with a throw of 50-3 1/2 for Mater Dei at Servite. Brad Williams of Servite won the pole vault (13-0).

In Angelus League girls’ track and field:

Mater Dei 86, Rosary 13--Catherine Soto won the triple jump at 34-2 1/2 for Mater Dei.

In Century League boys’ track and field:

Villa Park 96, Santa Ana 35--Robert Burnette won the 330 hurdles (42.5) and the 220 (24.1), and the Spartans won the 440 relay in 44.7. Gary Bladow won the long jump (22-2 1/2) and Oscar Ford the 100-yard dash (10.5) for Villa Park.

In Century League girls’ track and field:

Foothill 70, Canyon 57--Allison Franke won the triple jump (36-4 1/4), the shotput (32-8), the 100 low hurdles (15.6) and the discus (151-3), but it wasn’t enough for Canyon.

In Garden Grove girls’ track and field:

Kennedy 69, Pacifica 57--Crystal Fu won the two mile (12:44), the mile (5:52) and the 880 (2:43), Karrita Willis won the 100 (12.1) and the 220 (29.3) for Pacifica.

In Orange League boys’ track and field:

Brea-Olinda 68, Western 63--Brea-Olinda’s mile relay team of Lou Morales, Hector Soto, Jacob Shin and Austin Waltz combined for a 3:47 victory to give Brea the meet at Sonora High.

Wes Schneider won the 120-yard high hurdles (15.2), in which he is undefeated this season, the high jump (6-0) and the pole vault (10-0) to lead Brea. Western’s Daryl Whipple won the long jump (20-9), the 220 (23.3) and the 100 (10.4).

Savanna 73, Magnolia 62--Tim Tillman won the discus (143-11 1/2) and the shotput (49-11 1/2) for Savanna. Phouphet Singbandith won the high jump (6-4), the long jump (21-8) and the triple jump (47-0) for Magnolia.

Valencia 113, Anaheim 22--Eric Whitcomb won the pole vault (13-0) and the 400 (54.3); Jamie Lugo won the 800 (2:05) and 1,600 (4:50.6), Kevin Thomas won the 100 (11.1) and the 200 (23.1), and Mike Schoenbaum won the high hurdles (16.4) and the high jump (6-2) to lead the Tigers (3-1) at home.

In Orange League girls’ track and field:

Valencia 96, Anaheim 30--Debbie Laporte won the 100 (13.3) and 200 (27.9), and Erin Poch won the 800 (2:40.3) and the 1,600 (6:13) to lead the Tigers (4-0) at home.

Brea-Olinda 92, Western 37--Nancy Chabot won the 110 hurdles (16.3), the triple jump (32-2), the long jump (15-2) and the 220 (28.1) to lead Brea. Carol Argao won the 880 (2:49.6), the high jump (4-6) and the mile (6:26) to help Brea.

In Sea View League boys’ track and field:

Newport Harbor 84, Estancia 50--Billy Thibault won the 800 (2:07) and the mile (4:52) for host Newport Harbor.

In Sea View League girls’ track and field:

Corona del Mar 77, Tustin 49--Jill Young won the 100-meter dash (12.8), 200 (27.0) and 400 (1:02.) for the Sea Kings at Corona del Mar. Laurie Sawin won the high jump (5-5) for Corona del Mar.

Newport Harbor 77, Estancia 50--Lotta Lejbeborn won the 100 meters (13.3) and 200 (28.0) and Susie Jacobson won the 100 low hurdles (16.9) and 300 low hurdles (50.5) for Newport Harbor at home.

University 102, Saddleback 23--Tanja Brix won 800 (2:26.3) and the mile (5:38.7), and freshman Justelle Samuelson won the 110-meter hurdles (18.4) and the 300 hurdles (51.3) to lead University. Danetta Chaney won the 100 meters (12.4) and the 200 (26.3), and Olive Langi won the shotput (37-6 1/2) for Saddleback.

In South Coast League boys’ track and field:

Mission Viejo 73, San Clemente 63--Tim Martin won the 100 meters (10.72) and the 200 (22.15), and Tony Robinson won the triple jump (45-1 3/4) and the long jump (21-5) for San Clemente.

In South Coast League girls’ track and field:

Mission Viejo 95, San Clemente 23--Kathy Grayson won the 1,600 (5:26) and the 800 (2:23), and Jennifer Dunn won the shotput (35-11 1/2) for Mission Viejo.

In Sunset League boys’ track and field:

Marina 87, Fountain Valley 49--Richie Lockwood won the 800 (1:59.8) and the 3,200 (10:41) for Fountain Valley.

In Sunset League girls’ track and field:

Edison 66, Ocean View 61--Edison’s 1,600-relay team of Talia Crooks, Erika Miller, Sue Warner and Erica Boddie held off Ocean View for the victory. For the fourth time this year, Leslee Briggs broke her school record in the shotput, winning the event at 39-1.
