Cromartie’s Home Run Gives Yomiuri 5-3 Win

TOKYO —
Warren Cromartie, formerly of the Montreal Expos, hit a home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Yomiuri Giants a 5-3 Japanese baseball victory over the Yokohama Taiyo Whales Sunday. The homer was his second of the season.
The Hiroshima Toyo Carp extended their winning streak to six games by beating the Chunichi Dragons, 5-2. The Carp tied the game, 1-1, in the sixth inning on a solo home run by former U.S. minor leaguer Wade Rowdon.
