A 52-year-old man was in stable condition at UCI-Medical Center after he fell from a crane this morning while working on a sewer reconstruction project in Anaheim, officials said.

The man, whose name was not being released until his relatives had been notified, was working with an independent contractor on the city’s project in front of 1623 W. Ball Road.

Officials said the man was operating a crane on the back of a flat-bed truck about 7:56 a.m. today, attempting to move a 4-by 6-foot pipe into a ditch. The crane tipped at about a 45-degree angle and began to fall, they said.
