Elizabeth Taylor and Mark Harmon are teaming...

Elizabeth Taylor and Mark Harmon are teaming up for a new production of Tennessee Williams’ “Sweet Bird of Youth,” along with Rip Torn, who appeared in the 1962 movie version. Nicolas Roeg is directing the new rendition, which will air on NBC next season. Taylor will play former movie queen Alexandra Del Lago, with Harmon cast as the current man in her life. Valerie Perrine co-stars as Torn’s mistress.

Cable News Network is launching a new show on June 4. It’s called “Future Watch” and will, the network says, “take a hard look at the problems humankind is inflicting on itself and on the planet, and at the hope which exists that these problems can be solved.”

Corbin Bernsen, who plays Arnie Becker on “L.A. Law,” is starring in a remake of the 1964 film “36 Hours” for the TNT cable channel. He plays a World War II American Army officer whom the Nazis capture in hopes of learning the location of the D-day invasion. Also in the cast are John Glover, Joanna Pacula and David Marshall Grant.

Jim Henson, who currently is hosting a children’s series on NBC, will be showing up on HBO in a new series come fall. It’s called “The Ghost of Faffner Hall” and will feature a new cast of Muppet characters residing in a Gothic-style mansion. The real aim of the show is not horror, however, but music. Among the performers who will be making guest appearances will be Bobby McFerrin, Dizzy Gillespie, Joni Mitchell, Ry Cooder and Ladysmith Black Mombazo.
