Southern Section Tennis Championships : Leach and Ivey Advance to the Semifinals
Jon Leach of Laguna Beach High School and Randy Ivey of Woodbridge advanced to the semifinals of the Southern Section individual tennis championships with victories Friday.
Leach defeated Peter Jefchki of Santa Barbara, 6-4, 6-2, and Ivey defeated Ari Nathan of Brentwood, 3-6, 7-6, 6-4.
Leach will face Willie Quest of Long Beach Wilson and Ivey will play Alejo Mancisdor of Palm Springs in today’s semifinals, which will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the SeaCliff Country Club.
In doubles, Rob Atkin and Doug Schulein of Corona del Mar and Steve Lappin and Jaime Price of University advanced to the semifinals.
