Louis Armstrong is among the performers who will be profiled when “American Masters” returns to public television this summer. “Satchmo: The Life of Louis Armstrong” will mix footage of him in performance with interviews of Tony Bennett, Wynton Marsalis, Dexter Gordon, Dave Brubeck and others.

Robert Urich and Lesley-Anne Down are teamed in “Night Walk,” a movie for CBS. Down plays a woman who witnesses a murder; Urich is the police officer who investigates.

NBC has decided to alter the schedule of “The Tonight Show” next season. Beginning Aug. 28, each week’s repeat edition will be seen on Monday instead of Tuesday, and the weekly show with Jay Leno as host will run Tuesday instead of Monday. One of the reasons for the change is that it will allow Leno to plug who the guests will be on the following night’s show.

“Saturday Night Live” will return on NBC next season with executive producer Lorne Michaels again at the helm and his cast intact: Dana Carvey, Nora Dunn, Phil Hartman, Jan Hooks, Victoria Jackson, Jon Lovitz, Dennis Miller and Kevin Nealon. Also on tap for next season is a two-hour prime-time special to celebrate the show’s 15th anniversary.
