Strawfly Special won his first start on the West Coast in his Bay Meadows Futurity trial Wednesday night at Los Alamitos Race Course. Strawfly Special won by 2 1/2 lengths in the fastest time of seven time eliminations.
Strawfly Special, with Bruce Pilkenton up, finished 350 yards in 17.7 seconds, only four-hundredths off the stakes record.
The finals are schedule for June 17.
