Bettor Says He Has 9-for-9 Ticket, but Track Rules It’s Like a Stamp--Void After Canceled

An unidentified Hollywood Park bettor has claimed he holds a Pick Nine ticket worth $1.38 million that picked all nine winners on Wednesday’s program.

However, the track reportedly has refused to pay off the ticket because it had been canceled by the computerized betting system, rendering it void. Normally a bettor would not possess a canceled ticket, which in this case would have to be canceled before the first of the nine races.

Bobby Taylor, Hollywood Park director of mutuels, said he has begun an investigation of the claim. In the meantime, 44 tickets picking eight winners on Wednesday were paid off at $15,279.40 apiece, with lesser awards going to 7,690 tickets with six or seven winners.
