El Toro : Brush Fire Threatens Homes, Then Veers Off
Hot weather and dry grass contributed to a brush fire that scorched about an acre of dry hillside, briefly threatening homes in El Toro Monday, fire officials said.
It took firefighters from six engine companies nearly 1 1/2 hours to put out the blaze, reported shortly after 4 p.m. at the intersection of Paseo Sombra and Trabuco Road, County Fire Department officials said.
Flames, which first threatened nearby homes, eventually moved away from them.
No injuries were reported. The fire, which closed the intersection to traffic, is under investigation, fire officials said.
