De Dow, a former Canoga Park High and Moorpark College softball standout, has signed a letter of intent to play for Cal State Northridge, Matador Coach Gary Torgeson announced Tuesday.

Northridge will be the third college Dow has attended since graduating from Canoga Park in 1986. She first enrolled at Cal Lutheran but decided not to play there and transferred to Moorpark.

In two seasons at Moorpark, Dow won a school-record 48 games, including 30 last season when she earned junior college All-American honors and led Moorpark to third place in the state tournament.

Tony Dello, an outfielder from Pierce College, has signed a letter of intent to play baseball at St. Mary’s in Moraga, Calif. Dello batted .350 last season.

Evie Barry, a middle-distance runner from San Jose Santa Teresa High, and Cindy Byrne, a hurdler from Canyon High, have signed letters of intent to attend Cal State Northridge in the fall.

Barry placed sixth in the 1,600 in the state championships. She has personal bests of 2 minutes, 13.9 seconds in the 800 and 4:58.83 in the 1,600. Byrne won the Southern Section 4-A Division title in the 300-meter low hurdles as a junior but was unable to defend the title because she was academically ineligible. She has bests of 43.47 in the 300 hurdles and 14.8 in the 100 hurdles.

Terry Hill of Simi Valley High has been selected to the All-Southern Section 5-A baseball team sponsored by the Amateur Athletic Foundation of Los Angeles. Only 13 players were selected to the first team.

Included on the 4-A team are Hart’s Casey Burrill and Lance Migita, Notre Dame’s Chris Lohman and Rio Mesa’s Dmitri Young.
