Baldwin Park : Running for City Council

Residents interested in running for the City Council seat vacated by Richard Gibson may pick up nomination forms from the city beginning July 17, City Clerk Linda Gair said.
Gibson, who had been on the council five years, resigned June 10 to move closer to his job in Ventura, where he is a teacher and navigator for the California Air National Guard. The council election will be consolidated with the school district election Nov. 7.
Interested candidates must file their intent to run by 5 p.m. Aug. 11, Gair said. The forms are free, but there is a $25 filing fee, she said. Those who would like to include a candidate’s statement on the ballot must pay another $250, she said.
To qualify, a candidate must be a registered voter and Baldwin Park resident who has not been convicted of a felony, Gair said. Forms may be picked up from the city clerk at 14403 Pacific Ave.
