An Explosion of Celebrations For a Fireworks-Filled Fourth of July

Fourth of July fireworks displays, celebrations, picnics and concerts are set for Tuesday across the San Fernando, Santa Clarita and Antelope valleys.

In Burbank, two bands, Horrace Heidt’s Big Band and the Burbank Lancers Youth Band, will perform at 7:30 p.m. at John Burroughs High School Memorial Field, 1920 Clark Ave. Fireworks will follow at 9 p.m. Tickets are $3. Call (818) 953-9572.

The Tri-Chamber Fourth of July Spectacular, sponsored by the Chatsworth, Granada Hills and Northridge chambers of commerce, is set for Devonshire Downs at the Cal State Northridge campus. Entertainment includes parachute jumpers, jazz music with the Dixie Rhythm Ramblers and clowns performing for the kids. Gates open at 3 p.m., entertainment starts at 5 p.m. and fireworks go off at 9 p.m. Advance tickets are $5.50 adults and $3.50 children, a dollar more at the gate. Call (818) 368-3235.

In Woodland Hills, the 15th annual Fourth of July Show returns to Pierce College Stadium, 6201 Winnetka Ave. “A Salute to Broadway” includes the Downey Academy Dancers, Jody Dakota & Band and Glen Lyon Bags and Pipes. The Hi-Flight Sky Divers will perform. Canned food will be collected as part of a food drive for the needy. Gates open at 4 p.m., festivities start at 5:30 p.m. and fireworks begin at 9 p.m. Advance tickets are $7 adults, $5 seniors and children under 12 years, and a dollar more at the gate. The fifth annual Fourth of July Day in the Park program will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Chumash Park, 5550 Medea Valley Drive, Agoura. There will be food and games, including a dunk tank with the mayor and council members present. The Agoura Hills-Las Virgenes Community Orchestra will be featured, playing patriotic songs from 11 a.m. to noon. The event is free; no fireworks will be displayed. Call (818) 889-3150.

Gates will open at 12:30 p.m. at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds, 155 E. Ave. I, for a variety of events in Lancaster. Magic performers will tour the grounds while jazz, pop and country-and-Western musicians play throughout the day. There will be food and games, and a rodeo will begin at 7 p.m., followed by a 9 p.m. fireworks show. Admission to all events is free. Call (805) 948-7811.

In Saugus, a fireworks show concludes an evening that showcases NASCAR racing and a destruction derby at the Saugus Speedway, 22500 Soledad Canyon Road. Racing starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 adults, $3.50 children 11 years and under. Call (805) 259-3886.

A free fireworks display will be set off at the College of the Canyons stadium, 26455 N. Rockwell Canyon Road, Valencia. Gates will open at 7:30 p.m.

On Monday in Moorpark, the Concert in the Sky will take place at Moorpark High School, Tierra Rejada Road and Mountain Trail Street. Live entertainment will be featured with six bands playing rock, country, Latin rhythms, patriotic and barbershop music. Door prizes will be awarded, and fireworks will end the evening.
