A 15-year-old Encanto boy gunned down by assailants was reported in critical condition at UCSD Medical Center, authorities said Saturday.
The boy, whose identity was not disclosed, was apparently attacked by two males about 10:30 p.m. Friday in the 5900 block of Old Memory Lane.
The victim suffered three bullet wounds, once each in the thigh, stomach and back.
Immediately after the shooting, the two people were seen running east along Old Memory Lane toward 60th Street, police said. It is unknown whether the incident was gang-related.
Investigators suspect the assailant used a small-caliber, semiautomatic handgun.
No one has been arrested in connection with the shooting, police said, and an investigation is continuing.
