Police were looking for help Friday in locating 15 tanks of liquefied chlorine stolen from a San Diego chemical company.

The chlorine, which is used for chlorinating home pools, is lethal when not handled properly, said police spokesman Bill Robinson.

The tanks, along with equipment for dispensing chlorine, were believed to have been stolen from Pacific Chemical Co. on Mission Gorge Road sometime Thursday afternoon, said Helga Martin, the owner of the company.

The theft was not discovered until later and police were notified Friday morning, Martin said.
