Edwin Rosario became only the second lightweight to win the championship three times when he stopped Anthony Jones in the sixth round of a scheduled 12-round fight for the vacant World Boxing Assn. title in Atlantic City.
Rosario (35-3 with 31 knockouts) dropped Jones midway through the sixth round with a right hand and joined Jimmy Carter as the only three-time lightweight champion. Carter held the title during the 1950s.
