Encino-Crespi Flattens North Hollywood

Right-hander Pat Bennett threw a five-hitter and was two for three with three runs batted in to lead Encino-Crespi to a 10-2 win over North Hollywood in an inter-divisional American Legion District 20 game at Valley College on Tuesday.

Bennett (3-2) struck out four and walked one in the seven-inning victory, keeping alive his team’s hopes for a playoff berth. Both runs were earned.

Third baseman Vic Seper was three for three with two RBIs for Encino-Crespi (11-8). Seper, who will be a sophomore in the fall, has eight consecutive hits spanning three games.

Mark Maurizi and Ed Gillis each had two hits, an RBI and scored a run for Encino-Crespi, which led, 5-1, after two innings and scored in five of six innings.

Encino-Crespi pounded right-handers Craig White and Steve Sobisky for 12 hits, all singles. White, the starter, took the loss for North Hollywood (8-13).
