Three Valley-Area Volleyball Players Among 50 Honored by Magazine
Coley Kyman, Gary Resnick and Chris Bruckner, all June graduates of Valley-area high schools, are mentioned on Volleyball Monthly magazine’s “Fabulous 50"--a list of the sport’s top high school seniors.
Kyman, from Reseda High, and Resnick, from Taft, have signed letters of intent to play at Cal State Northridge next season. Bruckner, from Chaminade, signed with UCLA.
Kyman, two-time City Section 3-A Division Player of the Year, will play for the North team in the U. S. Olympic Festival on July 25-30 at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, Okla.
Dave Rhoades has been hired as baseball coach at Moorpark High. Rhoades, 27, who was junior varsity coach for three seasons, played baseball at Pepperdine and for one season in the minor leagues.
Season tickets for Cal State Northridge football games are available from the school’s ticket office. Prices are $30 for reserved seats and reserved parking. General admission seats are $23, $15 for youths aged 17 and under. Alumni can buy a reserved seat for $20.
Matador Club memberships are available for a partially tax deductable sum of $500, which secures two reserved seats, reserved parking and dinner for two before each home game.
Northridge will open the season with games on the road against Cal State Long Beach and Cal State Fullerton. The Matadors’ home opener is Sept. 16 against Sonoma State. CSUN’s other home games are against Central State, Okla., on Sept. 23; Cal Lutheran on Oct. 7; Santa Clara on Oct. 28 and Southern Utah State on Nov. 11.
Individual game prices are $7 for reserved, $5 for general admission and $3 for youths 17 and under.
The 10th Matador Golf Classic will be played Aug. 7 at Porter Valley Country Club to benefit the Cal State Northridge athletics program.
Berths in the tournament are still available at a cost of $150 per player. The entry fee includes greens fees, golf cart and dinner.
