Boy Dies of Injuries

A 6-year-old Vista boy, struck by a car Thursday when he ran into the street, died Friday of head injuries at Children’s Hospital in San Diego, according to the San Diego County coroner’s office.
Anthony Mendez of Cananea Street in Vista was struck by a car driven by Rudy Flores, 19, of Vista when he attempted to run across North Emerald Drive in response to a friend calling his name, a deputy coroner said.
The boy died about 2:30 p.m. Friday.
