A family argument in Oceanside that erupted in gunfire has left one man dead and one of his brothers sought in the killing, authorities said.

Jose Riojas, 27, was pronounced dead at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to the coroner’s office. Oceanside police, responding to a call of a disturbance, found Riojas lying on a driveway in the 1400 block of Papin Street about 7 p.m., Oceanside police spokeswoman Sylvia O’Brien said.

Riojas and his two brothers, who share a residence on Papin Street, had been arguing, O’Brien said.

Jose Riojas was armed with a large stick, and Antonio Riojas was armed with a gun, O’Brien said. The fight spilled into the street and Jose Riojas was shot at least once. Antonio Riojas fled the scene, O’Brien said.

A warrant was issued for his arrest on suspicion of murder, authorities said. The third brother, whose name was unavailable and who is believed to be about 26, was questioned by police and released.
