Police Officer Killed When Gun Goes Off During Raid

IRVINGTON, N.J. —
A police officer was killed Thursday morning when a fellow officer’s gun went off as police tried to break down a door. Mayor J. Walter Jonkoski said the Essex County police officers were trying to force their way into a building believed to be the center of a drug distribution ring when the shooting occurred.
