One man was killed, two were critically wounded and two 17-year-olds were arrested for shooting at sheriff’s deputies in four separate gang-related incidents in Los Angeles County over the weekend.

Willie Moore, 20, of the Athens area, was killed by rival gang members in a drive-by shooting at 8:15 p.m. Saturday, sheriff’s deputies said. Moore was shot in the upper body as he stood with five friends on the front lawn of a house at 1416 W. 105th St. in Athens. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

In other gang violence, Los Angeles police reported that two men were critically wounded in separate attacks early Sunday.

Sgt. Mike Sonntag said one man was hit by gunfire from a passing car northwest of downtown about 12:25 a.m., and the other was shot several times in the chest and once in the face in a “walk-up” shooting at 2:05 a.m. a few blocks from MacArthur Park.

Both victims, whose names and ages were not available, were in critical condition at County-USC Medical Center, Sonntag said.

Also Sunday morning, two juveniles were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, evading arrest and auto theft after they allegedly fired shots at sheriff’s deputies during an auto chase through the Willowbrook area.

Both youths are suspected gang members, authorities said.
