LOCAL : Calabasas Fires Under Investigation
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department arson investigators today were investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed two homes under construction in Calabasas.
The blaze also damaged two other homes under construction in a tract in the 3600 block of Reina Court, said Ron Coffin, a Fire Department spokesman.
None of the homes was occupied, and no injuries were reported in the fire, which broke out at 11:05 p.m. Thursday, Coffin said. About 50 firefighters fought it for 40 minutes before extinguishing it, he said.
The firefighters also kept the flames from igniting tinder-dry brush near the homes, he said.
Damage to the four homes was estimated at more than $1.5 million, Coffin said.
