A Rancho California teen-ager was killed and three others were injured early Saturday morning when the convertible sports car they were riding in left a roadway near Fallbrook and overturned.

Maryann Ross, 16, was dead at the scene, the California Highway Patrol said.

The other occupants of the car were the driver, Albert Clay, 19, of Temecula; William McPherson, 17, of Downey, and Jacqueline Burke, 15, of New Jersey, the CHP said. The three were being treated for injuries Saturday at Palomar Medical Center in Escondido.

The wreck occurred about 3:40 a.m. while the car was eastbound on California 76 near Gird Road, authorities said. The occupants were not wearing seat belts, officials said, adding that Clay was suspected of felony drunk driving and vehicular manslaughter.
