A Lancaster man was in critical condition with a punctured lung Sunday after being stabbed in the back during an argument with a woman and her boyfriend, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported.

Lozano Joe Bonelli, 25, began arguing with Patricia Ann Bates, 26, in front of a house in the 500 block of West Avenue H-8 in Lancaster shortly before 5 p.m. Saturday, Deputy Ronald Thomason said.

During the argument, Bates’ boyfriend, Jeffrey Dean Jaksha, 20, and Bonelli got into a fistfight, Thomason said.

Witnesses said Bates stabbed Bonelli in the back with a 6-inch boning knife while the two were fighting, Thomason said.

Bonelli, who was not breathing and had no pulse when he arrived at Antelope Valley Hospital Medical Center, remained in critical condition, hospital spokeswoman June Snow said.

Bates was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. No bail had been set. Jaksha was being sought for questioning, Thomason said.
