Senior Lineman Changes Gears on Plaisance

Share

Losing a player to injury is one thing, but losing a player to a car is another.

A car ?

Well, in part. Village Christian senior Frank Castellucci, an all-league guard who was expected to vie for All-Southern Section honors this season, has told Coach Mike Plaisance that he doesn’t want to play football this season.

According to Plaisance, Castellucci is holding down two jobs to support payments for a car he bought.

“My job is to teach responsibility, so I’m glad the kid is being responsible,” Plaisance said. “But it hurts us. He was going to be the stalwart of the line.”

Castellucci, 5-11 and 185 pounds, was one of five returning linemen who Plaisance had heralded as the team’s backbone. He had even gone as far as to call Castellucci a “human highlight film” before the season started.

Now, film is all Plaisance will see of Castellucci.
