Kearny 20, Henry 11--Tommy Rawlins threw touchdown passes of 41 and 52 yards for Kearny (3-0) at Mesa City College. Rawlins was 10 of 25 for 240 yards. Patrick Henry’s Luke Lowery was 18 of 36 for 307 yards, but threw three interceptions and fumbled once. The Patriots’ Jason Lonsdale caught seven passes for 116 yards. Patrick Henry is 1-2.

Santana 14, El Capitan 10--Craig Wilkerson scored on a 31-yard touchdown pass from Ferdi Hollis with 12 seconds remaining as Santana (2-0-1) won the battle for the Golden Whip at El Capitan. El Capitan led 3-0 at the half but Hollis scored on a 32-yard run at the beginning of the fourth quarter to give Santana the lead. El Capitan rallied to take the lead, 10-7. Santana got the ball with 1:22 remaining and drove to El Capitan’s 31. Hollis threw a pass to Wilkerson for an apparent touchdown, but offsetting penalties nullified the play. Two plays later, Hollis and Wilkerson scored on the same play, but this time it counted as Santana defeated El Capitan two years in a row for the first time since 1980-81.

Poway 41, San Marcos 13--Poway scored 24 points in the second quarter to pull away from San Marcos (1-2) at Poway. Tom Fisher threw two touchdown passes to lead the Titans (2-1).

Mission Bay 28, San Diego 0--Pat Betancourt returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown and scored another on a 42-yard run for Mission Bay (2-1). Betancourt, who rushed eight times for 65 yards, also intercepted a pass. Mission Bay’s Sheron Stewart added 101 yards in 19 carries and Dareke Fleming had five sacks for the Buccaneer defense. San Diego is 2-1.

Serra 21, Montgomery 15--Robert Hamilton scored three times for the Conquistadors (1-2) on runs of three and five yards and on a 26-yard pass from quarterback Tom Cotner. Hamilton carried 17 times for 92 yards at Montgomery. Joe Davis made three catches for 78 yards and two touchdowns for Montgomery (1-2).

Ramona 18, Hilltop 7--For Ramona (2-1), Jeff Manno recovered a fumble and had an interception. Running back Sarn Salmon carried 21 times for 114 yards for the Bulldogs. Hilltop dropped to 0-3.

El Toro 42, Torrey Pines 13--Visiting El Toro (3-0) scored 35 points in the first half. Torrey Pines (1-2) avoided the shutout when Preston Bynes scored on runs of 23 and 14 yards in the third quarter.

Valhalla 24, Granite Hills 6--David Eastlick ran for two touchdowns and passed for another to lead visiting Valhalla (2-1). Eastlick, who completed five of 12 passes for 106 yards, passed 40 yards to Chris Wyse for Valhalla’s first touchdown and then scored on runs of two and 12 yards. Wyse added a 25-yard field goal, and Scott Lapinski rushed for 101 yards for Valhalla. Granite Hills is 0-3.

Helix 47, West Hills 7--Quarterback Rob Ippolito completed 13 of 20 passes for 211 yards and two touchdowns for No. 4 Helix (3-0). Jarrett Parr rushed for 201 yards in 17 carries and had two touchdowns for Helix. West Hills drops to 1-2.

Crawford 24, Sweetwater 0--Peter Irvin scored three touchdowns, all on one-yard runs, and J.J. Wadas added a 42-yard field goal for visiting Crawford (2-1). Irvin gained 109 yards on 23 carries. Defensively, Crawford held Sweetwater (0-3) to 68 yards in total offense and minus-three yards rushing. Allah Hille had five sacks.

Monte Vista 21, Bonita Vista 16--Charles Whitehead scored on two touchdown runs of two yards each and teammate Steve Ryan returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown for Monte Vista (2-1) at Southwestern College. Mike Barnett was 17 of 30 for 188 yards and one touchdown for Bonita Vista (1-1-1).

USDHS 14, Mt. Carmel 3--Brian Duplesis had 126 yards on 30 carries and two touchdowns (seven and four yards) to lead USDHS (2-1) at Mt. Carmel. Matt Miller threw for 110 yards on seven of 20 passing and Pat Abare had a 29-yard field goal for Mt. Carmel (1-2).

Castle Park 39, South Delta (Canada) 0--David Fernandez rushed for 125 yards on six carries, including a 69-yard touchdown run, and Jeff Buras added 106 rushing yards on eight carries, including a 70-yard touchdown run. Castle Park (2-1) had 344 total yards (290 rushing) to just 54 for visiting South Delta of British Columbia (1-2).

La Jolla Country Day 50, LaVerne Lutheran, 0--The game was called in the third quarter because of the 45-point rule. Rich Pastor had 129 yards on 13 carries, including two touchdowns, for Country Day (2-1). LaVerne is 0-3.
