Dana Jones of North Hollywood High, a 6-foot-6 All-City Section forward and one of the top basketball players in the Valley, said Wednesday that he will sign a letter of intent in November to attend Pepperdine.

Jones, selected to the Times All-Valley team, averaged 20.1 points, 13.8 rebounds and 4.7 assists last season as a junior. He said that he had narrowed his choices to Loyola Marymount, Cal and Pepperdine before making his decision.

“I had a few schools in mind, but I liked Pepperdine,” Jones said. “I felt it was the perfect situation for me. It’s a good school, both academically and basketball-wise, and it’s close to home.”
