Channel Islands 28, Simi Valley 0--The Channel Islands defense made quick work of Simi Valley, limiting the Pioneers to 130 yards at Simi Valley.

In a game which lasted only one hour, 45 minutes and remained scoreless until midway through the second quarter, it was Channel Islands’ defense that provided the first score. Sophomore defensive end Eddie Flores scooped up a Simi Valley fumble and returned it 55 yards for a touchdown. Running back Willy Gambon added a three-yard touchdown run 1:13 before halftime to give Channel Islands (4-2, 2-1) a 14-0 halftime lead.

Gambon, who rushed for 56 yards in 10 carries, added a second touchdown in the fourth quarter. The lone highlight for the Pioneers (0-6, 0-2) was Eric Hale, who rushed for 92 yards in 22 carries, despite having several long runs called back on penalties.
