CS Long Beach Plays Host to San Jose State

Cal State Long Beach and San Jose State, football teams trying to get back to .500, will play a Big West Conference game today at noon at Veterans Stadium.

Long Beach, which lost to San Diego State, 30-26, last week, is 3-4 overall and 1-2 in the Big West.

The 49ers’ Sean Foster, a junior wide receiver who replaced injured Derek Washington, has caught 20 passes for 423 yards and five touchdowns in the last three games. Quarterback Paul Oates threw for 285 yards and two touchdowns against San Diego State.

San Jose, 2-3 overall but 1-0 in the conference, lost to Miami of Florida last week, 48-16.

The Spartans also have a strong passing game. Quarterback Matt Veatch has thrown for 1,168 yards, Fullback Johnny Johnson has caught 34 passes for 417 yards.
