These Giants Keep Series Hopes Alive
Toshio Shinozuka hit a two-run single and Kaoru Okazaki homered to save the Yomiuri Giants from elimination in the Japan Series with a 3-1 victory over the Kintetsu Buffaloes Saturday.
It was the Central League champions’ third consecutive victory after losing the first three games in the best-of-seven series. Only two teams have come back from three games down since the series was inaugurated in 1950.
Kintetsu, the Pacific League champion, is the only one of Japan’s 12 professional clubs that has never won the World Series.
Game 7 will be played here today.
