COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Oldham Leads OCC Past Golden West in Soccer

Paul Oldham scored eight minutes into the match as Orange Coast College defeated Golden West, 1-0, in an Orange Empire Conference men’s soccer match Tuesday at OCC.
It was Oldham’s eighth conference goal and 19th overall. OCC (12-3-2 overall and 6-0-1 in conference play) is in first place.
Andy Strouse, normally a forward, moved to goalkeeper because of injuries to OCC’s other two goalies. He had five saves.
Clint Larson had 12 saves for Golden West (1-13-2, 0-5-2).
In other Orange Empire Conference men’s soccer matches:
Fullerton 3, Rancho Santiago 2--Kirk Feiereisen scored in the first half and Paul McDonnell and Bill Saba scored in the second half as host Fullerton opened a 3-0 lead. Rancho Santiago scored two late goals. Fullerton (11-7-1, 4-3) moved within a point of second-place Rancho Santiago (3-1-3 conference). Jeff Holcombe had 12 saves for Fullerton.
In South Coast Conference women’s soccer:
Golden West 2, Moorpark 0--Deena Haurer and Kerri Kelter scored for host Golden West (8-5-4, 7-3-1), which is in second place behind OCC. The teams play Friday at 6 p.m. at Golden West for first place in the conference.
In Orange Empire Conference water polo:
Orange Coast 21, Palomar 10--Tony Litwak scored eight goals as host Orange Coast (23-4, 11-0) clinched the conference championship.
