HELP: Baseball’s Pete Rose, now in therapy for his gambling problem (C1), is taking up golf. . . . That could be a “very dangerous substitute,” warns Costa Mesa psychologist Richard Lister, who counsels athletes. “There are people in Southern California who tax-free are making $20,000, $30,000 or $40,000 a year in golf bets. Pete’s going to be with competitive athletes (who) are more likely to get in trouble . . . because they have such a drive and are accustomed to winning.”
