COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Fullerton Rallies to Beat Grossmont in Basketball

Fullerton College outscored Grossmont 18-4 in the final seven minutes of the game en route to an 86-72 victory in the Fullerton basketball tournament Wednesday night.

Fullerton (2-1) was led by Rashone Lewis, who had 18 points and nine rebounds. Grossmont fell to 0-3.

In nonconference men’s basketball:

Rancho Santiago 109, College of the Canyons 99--Matthew Lien, a 6-9 sophomore from Whittier Christian High School, had 30 points and four rebounds to lead Rancho Santiago to a season-opening victory over visiting College of the Canyons (0-1).

In nonconference women’s basketball:

Citrus 48, Cypress 21--Camille Iverson had 24 points for visiting Citrus (1-0). Cypress (0-2) was led by Claudia Aguirre, who had six points and 15 rebounds.

In Orange Empire Conference women’s volleyball:

Riverside 3, Cypress 0--Visiting Riverside (12-6 overall, 7-5 in conference) swept, 15-9, 15-7, 15-12. Cypress’ record is 5-12, 2-9.

Orange Coast 3, Rancho Santiago 1--Lisa Wisdom had nine kills, four blocks and five aces, Kim Clark had nine kills and three aces and Monique Huerta had seven aces and 35 assists as the host Pirates (3-12, 3-8) won, 9-15, 15-6, 15-4, 15-8. Rancho Santiago is 1-14, 0-11.

Saddleback 3, Fullerton 0--Cyndi Rhone had 13 kills, Laura Farrell had 11 and Deanna Zitnick had 10 kills and three blocks as host Saddleback (14-3, 9-2) won, 15-6, 15-13, 17-15. Lisa Papazian had 10 kills for Fullerton (10-5, 7-4).
