Oklahoma State, led by medalist Bobby May’s 66, came from 11 shots back to win an invitational collegiate tournament at Hilton Head, S.C.
May, a junior from La Habra, made seven birdies to pass Florida’s Dudley Hart and Arizona State’s Phil Mickelson, who were tied for the lead after two rounds.
May’s total of a 10-under-par 206 for 54 holes was six better than Mickelson, who shot a 74. Hart, who led after the first round with a 66, shot a 75.
The top-ranked Cowboys shot a 9-under-par 279 for a total of 859, five under par. Florida was second, two shots back.
