Tubbs to Meet Norris in Heavyweight Bout
Tony Tubbs, former heavyweight champion of the World Boxing Assn., will fight Orlin Norris in a 12-round bout tonight at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium.
Tubbs, 28-2, has won three consecutive fights after being knocked out by Mike Tyson 20 months ago. Norris, 22-1, has won 20 in a row since losing a four-round preliminary decision early in his career.
Norris, ranked among the top 10 heavyweights by all three of boxing’s major governing bodies, has decisions over Renaldo Snipes and Greg Page in the last two years. He is defending a regional International Boxing Federation championship tonight, the North American Boxing Federation title.
