Two rewards have been established for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone connected with last month’s arson of the New Palace Hotel in downtown San Diego, a Crime Stoppers spokeswoman said Tuesday.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for the information, and the Downtown Senior Center Corp., the nonprofit corporation that owns the hotel, has offered a $10,000 reward.

The unoccupied hotel, which was being renovated for senior housing, was destroyed by the 2 a.m. fire. A nearby liquor store and bar were closing at the time of the fire, the spokeswoman said. Investigators believe that someone leaving those businesses may have information about the fire, she said.

Damage to the hotel is estimated at $1 million.

Crime Stoppers may be reached by calling 235-TIPS.
