Tony Pena, a five-time All Star catcher, signed a $6.4 million, three-year contract with the Boston Red Sox. Pena, who is the first major free agent signed by Boston since 1980, will receive a $600,000 signing bonus and salaries of $1.5 million in 1990, $2.1 million in 1991 and $2.2 million in 1992.
