Fernando Martin, who played for the Portland Trail Blazers in 1986, was killed in an auto accident Sunday.

Martin was in his eighth season with Real Madrid in the Spanish League, and the team’s game with CAI of Zaragoza was postponed because of his death.

Police said Martin, 27, was driving his car when he was involved in a head-on crash on a Madrid circular highway. He was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
