Notre Dame High, whose football team won in the playoffs for the first time this season, placed four players on the All-Southern Section Division VII team sponsored by the Amateur Athletic Foundation. Running back Errol Small, offensive lineman John DiSante, defensive lineman Owen Taylor and kicker Chris Afarian were selected. Also selected was Chaminade defensive back Felix Goodson. All are seniors.

Small was the area’s fourth-leading rusher with 1,467 yards and led the Knights to the San Fernando Valley League title. Norte Dame (11-2) advanced to the playoff semifinals, winning in the postseason for the first time since the school opened in 1947.
