SPORTSCOPE : Trust Fund Set for Injured Torrance High Football Player

A trust fund has been established for Torrance High football player Jason Knight, who was paralyzed in a game this season. Knight, a sophomore, is undergoing rehabilitation at Rancho Los Amigos Hospital in Downey.

Gardena will hold a basketball officials training clinic Jan. 10 and 16. Participants will be eligible to officiate city league games for $10 a game. For more information call 217-9537 or 217-9598.

Boys and girls ages 6-12 can enroll in the annual YMCA Youth Basketball League to be played at the Gardena/Carson branch each Saturday beginning Jan. 6. Volunteer coaches are needed. Call 327-0750.

UCLA’s defending national champion women’s softball team will conduct a clinic Jan. 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bruin intramural field. Team enrollment, at $15 per player, is encouraged.
