Northridge Seeks to Even Record on Two-Game Trip
- Share via
The Cal State Northridge men’s basketball team will try to even its record when the Matadors play at UC Davis tonight and at Sacramento State on Saturday.
Although the Matadors (3-5) have not played in almost two weeks, they are coming off their best effort of the season in an 81-70 loss at Cal State Fullerton.
Derrick Gathers matched his season average of 22 against Fullerton.
Davis is 1-9 after starting the season with high expectations. Sacramento State is 8-7 but advanced to the championship game of the Chaminade (Hawaii) tournament before losing to Maryland, 98-68, Sunday. Guard Mike Kane is averaging about 20 points a game for Sacramento State.
Davis expected all five of its starters to return from last year’s 16-13 team, but one transferred, one was ruled academically ineligible and two others quit the team.
