BIG WEST CONFERENCE : Last-Second Shot Beats Fresno State

Randy Brown’s off-balance 12-foot jump shot at the buzzer gave New Mexico State a 71-69 victory over Fresno State in a Big West Conference basketball game Tuesday at Las Cruces, N. M.
The victory was the eighth straight for New Mexico State (10-1 overall, 1-0 in the Big West). Fresno State is 5-5 and 0-1.
Brown, who along with James Anderson led the Aggies with 13 points, made the game-winner after Fresno State guard Wilbert Hooker sank a 16-foot basket to tie, 69-69, with five seconds left.
UC Santa Barbara 82, San Jose State 61--Carrick Dehart scored 21 points and Eric McArthur added another 21 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Gauchos (7-2, 1-0) at at Santa Barbara. The Spartans fell to 3-7, 0-1.
Santa Barbara never trailed, taking a 39-25 halftime lead.
San Jose State was led by Kevin Logan’s 15 points.
