LOS ALAMITOS : Gold Series Final Has Field of 7
The Monterey Farms’s Flight Strip could post his third straight victory when he tackles a field of seven in the $20,000 California Gold Series Final tonight at Los Alamitos.
The Gold Series Final was originally scheduled to be raced on Jan. 10, but that event was rescheduled due to fog which forced the cancellation of that night’s program.
Flight Strip will be one of the favorites tonight with close competition expected from Clos Du Val and Red Star Baron.
In post position order, the field for tonight’s main event is as follows: Clos Du Val, Jim Grundy in the race bike; Flight Strip , Gene Vallandingham; Red Star Baron, Ross Croghan; Black N Spicy, Peter Wrenn; Absolute Gem, Jim Lackey; El Dante, Steve Desomer; Rigor of Rock, Jim Butler; and Muscat Canelli, Robert Sleeth.
Flight Strip has beaten Red Star Baron and all the other entrants in tonight’s field in divisions of the second and third legs of this series.
The Gold Series Final is the eighth race on tonight’s program.
