The Seattle SuperSonics signed veteran shooting guard Jim Farmer to replace Dale Ellis, who is recuperating from injuries suffered in a car crash.

Farmer, a first-round draft choice of the Dallas Mavericks in the 1987 NBA draft from University of Alabama, averaged 3.2 points in 67 games--30 with Dallas in 1987-88 and 37 with Utah in 1988-89.

Farmer, signed Sunday, was to practice with the Sonics today.
