The extra two innings played in college baseball proved to be the downfall for former Camarillo High Coach Ken Wagner.

Wagner, who made his coaching debut at Moorpark College on Friday, watched Saddleback rally from a six-run deficit to beat the host Raiders, 8-7, in the opener for both teams.

Three Moorpark relievers allowed six runs on seven walks and two singles in the eighth inning as Saddleback rallied to forge a 7-7 tie.

Left-handed reliever Jeffrey Murphy threw a wild pitch that allowed Jason Kirrer to score from third base for the winning run in the ninth.

In the bottom of the ninth, Mike Suarez, who had four hits and two runs batted in, and Marcus Lockwood each singled, but freshman reliever Pat Norville retired the last three Raiders (0-1) on pop-ups to secure the win.

Moorpark starter Jeff Berman worked six strong innings, allowing one run on two hits and four walks.
