From Times Staff and Wire Service Reports

Two brothers with known gang affiliations were attacked today during a drive-by shooting in Buena Park that left one dead and the other wounded, police said.

Aurelio Navarette, 20, and his 18-year-old brother, Otoniel, both of Buena Park, were walking west along Artesia Boulevard across Fullerton Street about 12:08 a.m. when two cars pulled up. Witnesses said that after a brief discussion, someone in one of the cars opened fire, police spokeswoman Betty Haney said. After numerous shots, the cars drove off, she said.

Aurelio Navarette was pronounced dead on arrival at LaPalma Intercommunity Hospital, Haney said. Otoniel was treated at Humana Hospital West in Anaheim for a bullet wound in the arm and then released, she said.

Police have no suspects. They said the incident may be gang-related because the brothers were known to have belonged to a gang, Haney said.
