PACIFIC COAST LEAGUE ROUNDUP : Trabuco Hills Wraps Up Title With Rally From 9 Points Down

After trailing by nine points late in the third quarter, Trabuco Hills High School rallied to defeat Laguna Beach, 52-47, Wednesday night at Trabuco Hills and win its second consecutive Pacific Coast League title.

Laguna Beach (18-5, 7-2 in the league) trailed by two at the half, then went on a 15-4 run in the third quarter and led, 39-30, with less than half of the quarter remaining. But Trabuco Hills (15-8, 9-0) came back, using a half-court trap defense.

Guard Tim Manning, who scored all six of his points in the fourth quarter, made a three-point shot with 3:30 remaining to give Trabuco Hills a 45-44 lead.

Laguna Beach trailed by two with 15 seconds remaining, but Trabuco Hills’ Khoa Tran made three of four foul shots when technical fouls were called on Dain Blanton for hanging on the Trabuco Hills rim and Laguna Beach Coach Ed Bowen for arguing the call.
